Daniel "Dan" Thompson (Originally Michael Thompson) is a student who sits in the back row of class. He is a new boy from Chicago, Illinois. He used to be a Mountain Scout, but quit because he hated the conditions and similar. He loves History and can easily recall historical facts. He participated in an Assassination Attempt on George W. Bush, but escaped unharmed. He has black hair like Tweek's, a green T-shirt and blue jeans. He thinks anything he dislikes is gay. He moved in during May, and has since become a recurring character around the boys.
He is the boy who gives Stan the tickets to Washington D.C. in Play It Again, Stan, as a token of graditude for showing him around the school. Dan is a reformed homophobe, and hasn't had a homophobic episode since 2005.
He briefly attended John F. Kennedy Boarding School in New York with Laurie Cunningham and Jenny Grave.

Dan has black hair much like Tweek, and usually wears a green coat like Stan Marsh's and blue jeans. However, while doing mercenarywork, he dresses much like Mole, with military jeans and a helmet, and a cigarrete, as well as weapons on him. He often has a black eye.

Dan is fairly apathetic about Wendy. He does not seem to agree with her as a bitch as most of the children do, but he has no particular liking for her over the other girls. The two sometimes have similar views on Political subjects, but rarely speak of it, as Dan often makes a joke Wendy finds immature during such conversations.

John and Dan are old friends from before Dan's days at the Gifted School in New York, and they do indeed have each others' backs.

Daniel was created by JVM. He was inspired by his real friend's attempt to make himself in an old version of SP-Studio, and was created when JVM realized a boy looking like that appeared in Cripple Fight. The name Michael was based on afromentioned, but it was changed to distance itself as the character has a "very different personality".
